150 new 45' swapbodies

150 newly build swapbodies, swap in short, have been added to our fleet to support our intermodal service on the Europe - Middle East lane.

What is the difference between a swapbody and a standard ocean container?

The main difference lies in their design and usage:

Design:

Swap bodies are light and have reinforced corner posts or sockets for easy lifting and transferring by specialized vehicles. While shipping containers are heavier and have permanent corner fittings for crane lifting. They are designed specifically for ocean freight.

Usage:

Swap bodies are versatile containers used for intermodal transportation across various modes such as road, rail, and sea. They are commonly employed in combined transport operations, where cargo needs to be seamlessly transferred between different types of transportation without unloading and reloading.

Standard ocean containers are primarily used for transporting goods via sea freight. They are loaded onto ships and transported between ports. While they can be transported inland by truck or train, they are not as easily transferred between modes as swap bodies.

In summary, swap bodies are designed for multi-modal transport and offer flexibility in loading and unloading, whereas standard ocean containers are specifically tailored for sea transport and are not as versatile in terms of intermodal transportation.

What are the advantages of using swap bodies in logistics?

  1. Versatility: Swap bodies allow for easy loading and unloading from both the side and top, making them suitable for various types of cargo.

  2. Capacity: With the ability to accommodate up to 33 europallets, swap bodies provide ample space for transporting goods efficiently.

  3. Streamlined Operations: These features streamline logistics operations, enabling swift and convenient movement of cargo between trucks, trains, and ships.

  4. Flexibility: By enhancing loading flexibility and maximizing cargo capacity, swap bodies contribute to optimizing supply chain efficiency.

  5. Global Trade Support: Swap bodies play a key role in supporting seamless global trade by facilitating efficient transportation across different modes.
